Meet the Emily Nelson Executive Board ★ Chaplain Lisa-Helene
Welcome to the Auterman Administration! In celebration of the beginning of our DAR year, we asked our chapter’s board members a few questions relating to the upcoming plans of the administration and what they’re most looking forward to!
★ How long have you been a member of DAR?
☆ I have been a member of DAR for nearly 12 years (celebrating my official 12-year anniversary on January 5th!).
★ What attracted you to this role?
☆ Serving as Chapter Chaplain is deeply rewarding because it allows me to support, encourage, and care for our members on a personal level. The Emily Nelson Chapter has always been a place of warm friendship, mutual service, and shared purpose. Having the opportunity to provide inclusive, ecumenical spiritual grounding—offering comfort, celebration, and reflection that resonates across our diverse backgrounds—makes this role an absolute honor.
★ What are you looking forward to?
☆ I look forward to deepening our chapter’s spirit of fellowship and continuing our hands-on community service together. There is something truly special about gathering with women dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism, and I am excited for more shared milestones, meaningful service projects, and enduring friendships in the months ahead.
★ What do you like to do outside of DAR?
☆ Outside of DAR, you will usually find me writing, reading, or spending time over coffee with friends!! Over the past couple of weeks, I have also become completely hooked on strength training at my local YMCA—proving that you can build serious new fitness habits and hit new milestones at any stage of life.
We are so thankful for Lisa-Helene and the light she brings to our chapter. Whether it’s celebrating the big wins or tough losses, we are glad to always have her in our corner!
