Visionary Youth Becoming Empowered (VYBE) are our remarkable gatekeepers who spread the message of our mission throughout the District of Columbia’s charter school system. These creative Peers have come up with resourceful ways of conducting outreach within charter schools across our city. The VYBE program has peers in three public charter schools in DC. VYBE Club is an enrichment program that eng
ages students in fun, educational activities focused on preventing unplanned pregnancy and HIV infection. Using a science based curriculum, youth will lead and participate in conversations that increase prevention knowledge and build the skills necessary to become advocates for their own health. Participation in VYBE club will allow students the space to discuss the tough decisions facing DC youth and the knowledge to act as agents of change for themselves and their peers. Each module is designed to build participants’ prevention knowledge and abilities to create a network of young leaders capable of preventing the incidence of unplanned pregnancy and HIV-infection amongst themselves, their peers, and their communities. Participation in VYBE also includes monthly trips and other incentives.
