The 2026 NFHA National Conference is later this month. , before you do anything else mark Thursday, June 11.

That’s when our room block at the host hotel closes. After that, the conference rate lifts at the Capital Hilton. If you’ve been thinking about joining us, this is the moment. Register now, then lock in the room while the block is open.

What’s at stake this year:

Federal fair housing enforcement is being dismantled in real time. HUD is hollowing out its enforcement capacity and attempting to withhold funds already appropriated by Congress. Federal regulators are retreating from disparate impact, one of the most effective tools we have for combating discrimination at scale. Meanwhile, AI is rewriting the rules of who gets housed, who gets credit, and who gets denied.

The 2026 NFHA National Conference is where the people defending the Fair Housing Act come together to figure out what comes next. Practitioners enforcing the law on the ground. Policymakers advancing real solutions. FHAP agencies, lenders, researchers, advocates, and the communities they serve.

Registration options:

• Full conference (June 27-30) — starting at $450 when you book the hotel before June 11
• Virtual attendance — $200
• Single-day — starting at $150 (limited availability)

Today, the National Fair Housing Alliance filed suit in federal court to stop the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) from dismantling 50 years of fair lending law.

The Equal Credit Opportunity Act has helped families build wealth and access homeownership since 1974 and has been enforced by every administration—Republican and Democrat alike—until now.

A new CFPB rule threatens to make that law toothless. The public weighed in and more than 93% opposed the core changes. The bureau moved forward anyway.

Now, we're going to court.

Watch the video to lean what's at stake and why we're fighting to make sure the law still means something for every family, in every ZIP code.

The National Fair Housing Alliance stands with Senator Elizabeth Warren, Ranking Member of the Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee, and 31 of her Senate colleagues in rebuking the Department of Housing and Urban Development's proposed rule to rescind the disparate impact standard under the Fair Housing Act.

Disparate impact is one of the most effective legal tools available to expose housing discrimination. Its elimination would make discrimination harder to prove and easier to ignore. We urge HUD to withdraw this proposal and continue enforcing the Fair Housing Act.

Who are we when federal institutions retreat?

That’s not rhetorical. HUD has decimated its Fair Housing enforcement capacity. The CFPB just rescinded key anti-discrimination lending protections. Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity guidance is being withdrawn.

The law did not change. Washington’s commitment did.

Fifty-eight years after America committed to fair housing, federal institutions are retreating from enforcement. The question now is what we do about it.

Building the Future We Deserve, NFHA’s 2026 National Conference, convenes leaders, practitioners, and community partners to answer with proven strategies, accountability, and action. We are holding the rule of law. And we’re reimagining what a housing market looks like when fair housing protections are enforced.

June 27-30, we examine enforcement strategies when federal pressure eases, how to detect and challenge algorithmic bias, scalable models for expanding access and wealth-building, and cross-sector partnerships that move the needle. We are centering solutions to America’s fair and affordable housing crisis.

If you work shapes housing outcomes—this conference is for you. Join us in leading the Fair Housing movement towards a more just America.

Register now: In-person registration starts at $450. Virtual attendance is $200. Limited single day registrations are available for just $150.

As Fair Housing Month comes to a close, we are reminded that fair housing has always depended on both the strength of our laws and our collective will to advance fair housing. That is our charge each and every day at the National Fair Housing Alliance.

Fair housing is not a finished promise. It is a continuing obligation shaped every day by the choices we make in our communities and institutions, and our willingness to meet that responsibility with urgency, clarity, and resolve.

In a powerful message for the National Housing Conference, our President and CEO Lisa Rice makes the case for our collective efforts to challenge bias, speak when silence is easier, and ensure that progress is not taken for granted.
