The U.S. House of Representatives yesterday passed the farm bill – the first major action on this legislation in eight years. Although we appreciate House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson’s efforts, the bill doesn’t fully address the realities of today’s economy for farmers or families. Momentum is building in Iowa! Farmers and ranchers are one step closer to protecting the right to repair their own equipment after the Iowa House passed a bipartisan bill this week. This progress is powered by strong grassroots advocacy from Iowa Farmers Union and family farmers across the state.

A big step forward—and we’re not done yet.

Another Advocacy Training in the books! Our members took their voices to the Capitol, meeting directly with representatives to advocate for real solutions for family farmers and ranchers back home.

From navigating advocacy at the national, state, and local levels to diving into hot policy topics, hearing directly from partners and congressional staff, and learning how to tell their stories effectively, attendees left better equipped to amplify the needs of family farmers and ranchers.

Secretary Rollins agrees with Farmers Union - American ranchers need mandatory country-of-origin labeling.

Americans want to know where their food comes from, but multinational meatpackers and foreign competitors have fought fair and accurate labels for decades. This has allowed companies to import cheaper products from other countries, shorting American family ranchers and undermining consumer confidence.

Mandatory country-of-origin labeling would create a fairer, more competitive market for American ranchers. Congress needs to restore this critical policy and provide consumers the transparency they demand.
