Mother and baby saved by quick-thinking HALO deminers.

When Nimico Ismail Hussein developed a life-threatening hemorrhage after giving birth in a remote area of Somaliland, her husband sought urgent help in a nearby HALO demining camp.

Highly skilled HALO paramedics sprang into action, using their medical training to administer life-saving medication and control Nimico's bleeding.

"The quick actions and adaptability of this team to use their minefield training during what was a complicated maternal emergency resulted in not just one, but two lives saved, " said Tim Gargan, Head of Medical at HALO.

Laos is considered the most heavily bombed country in the world, relative to its population.

270 million cluster munitions were dropped on 🇱🇦 during the Vietnam War, an estimated third of which did not explode.

Today, 30% of the country is still impacted by legacy ordnance, endangering families and children in their homes, schools, and land.
