My name is Dan Sade and as many of you know, I have a very deep interest in transportation issues, especially in the Washington, DC area. I frequently post links and other posts about transportation on my Facebook wall. I have, for quite some time now, been thinking about starting a page to post these links

and share a couple of ideas of my own. After talking with one of my friends this weekend, I settled on this idea, and decided to call it Hub and Spoke. I intend to make this page a hub for those who are interested in DC transportation issues to learn more about those issues and other issues relating to smart growth and urbanism. The whole point of this page is to share information. I encourage others to post on this page, and to share their thoughts and links that are insightful and interesting. WTOP has recently reported that the Silver Line project is going to be handed over to WMATA in the coming weeks with an anticipated opening around the 4th of July this year. Let's hope it's true!

Mini Metro is a simple game about trying to design an efficient train system in a rapidly evolving city. It's represented by an basic subway map and you change routes just by dragging your mouse between stops. There's a free alpha that you can play right now!

If any of you have been around H Street or Benning road in the last couple of months you may have noticed an increase in construction and lane closures surrounding the opening of the new Streetcar Line. This new line is planned to open by the end of the year! Keep an eye out for construction progress and DC Streetcar updates as we get closer and closer to the New Year!

I know it's been a while since I shared something here but I thought this graphic of Tysons Corner Alignment Alternatives for the first phase of the Silver Line (set to open in late January) was pretty cool especially given that the line is now a reality and the trains are now running on it.
