Today is an extra special as we celebrate the upcoming birthday of Locks and Dam 14 in Pleasant Valley, Iowa! June 14th will mark the 87th birthday of this integral lock on the Mississippi River! This photo, taken in 1938, shows construction of the dam looking slightly upstream.

An average of 18.5 million tons of cargo pass through Locks and Dam 14 annually.
