Terrific football game telecast party. Thanks to everyone who was there - Not only did we win the game, but we won the party.... both here and in Williamstown (which because of some fluke of fate is where I watched the game). Below are some pictures from the great DC party. (Thanks to Julia Schmidt ‘01 and Amanda Stout ‘04 for organizing!)

Reminder – The tremendous Williams-Amherst Football Telecast Party will be this Saturday, November 9th., at Mission Bar at the Navy Yard (1221 Van St SE) – https://missionnavyyard.com

Doors open at 11:30am with kickoff at Noon. We’ll have some great food and college SWAG stuff.

It will be a great time to reconnect with other local alumni and see some terrific football. Ephs, Friends, and Family (this is a kid friendly event) are all welcome.

And to help us plan for food, you can Register at this link (https://securelb.imodules.com/s/1670/interior.aspx?sid=1670&gid=2&pgid=3876&cid=8034) – But if you’re a last minute planner, just come down and enjoy the party and the game.

The Ephs are 6-2, while the Mammoths are only 4-4, so we should be favored. Here is a summary article from Williams Sports Info with historic info and stats.

Any questions, please contact Julia Schmidt '01 at [email protected]

Thought some of you might find this interesting.....

You'd think the NCAA wouldn't care much about the eligibility details of a middling Division III golfer — but you'd be wrong.

Celebrate Mountain Day, a Williams autumn tradition, with a hike in Sky Meadows State Park, Virginia. Our group will take a five-mile hike (with an option for two more), and meet at a high meadows overlook for lunch. Williams DC alumni, parents, friends, children, and dogs (on leashes) are all welcome.

Hike Description
Sky Meadows State Park features hillside trails climbing up about 800 feet of elevation to the Appalachian Trail, which in this area follows a NE/SW route along the hilltop ridge. Hikers can choose a short or long hike along the A.T., before stopping in the high meadows and viewing the “Paris Overlook” (of Paris, Virginia). We will hike together up the South Ridge trail, connecting to meet the Appalachian Trail after about 2.5 miles. From there, a group who want to go longer and faster will follow the Old AT along the side of the ridge to where it meets the current AT, then looping back, for another 3 miles before lunch. The main group will go about a mile directly along the AT to the Ambassador Whitehouse trail and to its viewing point, where we will have lunch at about 12:30/1:00. Latecomers can come straight up the North Ridge and Ambassador Whitehouse trails to the viewing point to meet the group. After lunch at the viewing point, we’ll trundle down past the Piedmont Overlook to the parking lot, about another 1.5 miles.

In the event of rain, we will still hike. In case of heavy rain, we will hike through and have our lunch on the porch of one of the park buildings at the center of the park at around 1:00 p.m.

Where to Meet
Everyone will meet Grant Eskelsen at 10:00 a.m. at the visitor’s center at Sky Meadows State Park to begin the hike. Please pay the entrance fee to the park of $10.00 per car on your way in, and also bring a lunch because we plan to eat at the meadows at 12:30/1:00 p.m. We expect to be off the trail by about 3:00 pm and back to the Vienna Metro Station or the beltway around 4:00 p.m.

Carpooling
Those carpooling should meet Jake Russin at the Vienna Metro Station, in the Kiss & Ride area to the North of the station, at 8:45 a.m., with the last car departing at 9:00 a.m.

If possible, please register so we can calculate numbers for carpooling. But last minute, unannounced arrivals are welcome to meet us at the park’s visitors center too. And thanks to Jake Russin '94 for again organizing and leading this event!

Hi DC Ephs - I’m looking to hire someone to help me update (and somewhat revise) my WordPress based consulting website. Any recommendations about Ephs (or their friends, family, colleagues, or others) who could me with that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike Miller '82
