🌙

Leaders of the Oromo Community Organization in , , and attended a wonderful Dinner/Iftar program with our Muslim brothers and sisters. Representing our large community, we wished them Ramadan Kareem.

During the program, we honored our elders who sacrificed so much for Oromo unity, Oromummaa, our language, and our identity. They shared their experiences and the sacrifices they made to build and strengthen the community. Based on their expirience we remembered in our mind, the historic unity demonstrated in the town of Dheeraa.

In Dheeraa, Wakefata, Muslims, and Christians came together during the Macha and Tuluma gathering. At that time, people had been divided, eating in separate tents and using different knives, symbolizing religious separation. However, during that powerful unity event, they courageously broke down those psychological barriers. They chose to sit together in the same tent, eat from the same plate, and use the same knife, embracing one another as children of the same mother and father.

By doing so, they dismantled the divisions that once separated them and reaffirmed their shared identity and unity.

And they advised the new generation to learn from their experiences. Dr. Duguma, our community organization , shared an inspiring message for the Oromo Muslim Community. Under his leadership, they've started an amazing movement to unite Oromo Diaspora across North America and promised to finalize the Oromo Multi-purpose center project. He invited everyone to join and help complete this mega project 🌟.

Thank you, Wabe Self Help Organization, for sponsoring this beautiful program and for inviting community leaders as honored guests.

Ramadan Kareem.
