Under the leadership of Sheryl P. Underwood, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated launched one of its most sacred recognitions, honoring our Zeta Doves, members who have served our sisterhood and their communities for more than fifty years. Past President Underwood also completed and formally dedicated The Z-HOPE Health Center at the Afua Kobi Ampen Girls High School in Trabuom, Ghana, where over 2,000 students have received much-needed medical services. A Daytime Emmy Award Winner, President Underwood is an actress and comedian and can be seen daily on your local CBS network as a television host on "The Talk."

On July 21, Ms. Tyra Russell was named Interim Principal for Shepherd Elementary.

Ms. Russell began her teaching career in 2007 working with beginning readers and early childhood education students. In 2009, she began teaching at The Academy Charter School in New York as a founding kindergarten teacher.

In 2016, Ms. Russell moved to DC to accept the Assistant Principal position at Savoy Elementary School within . During her time there, she had the opportunity to work closely with the principal on responsibilities including balancing the school budget, recruiting, and maintaining talent, coaching regarding English Language Arts (ELA) and Math curriculum, and providing teachers with productive observations and feedback to continue student success at Savoy.

Please join us in welcoming Principal Russell to the Shepherd Community!

Don't forget: Popsicles with the Principal is tomorrow from 3:30-5:00 in the school courtyard.

Pursuant to Article VI of our district bylaws, this is your club's official notice that the 102nd Annual Capital District Kiwanis Convention will be held August 19-21, 2022 at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in Baltimore, MD.

The deadline for Early Registration is June 30th. Registration rates will increase after that and online registration will close entirely on August 4th, 2022.
