Calling everyone who will be at IETM Oulu Plenary Meeting on 17th June: sign up for Global Fellow Riham’s workshop, From Archive to Activism: Embodied Practice as Collective Protest.

The workshop brings together her research on Palestinian cultural archives and embodied practice. Working with materials from the 1960s-1990s—posters, revolutionary poetry, songs, paintings, protest materials—participants will engage in hands-on tasks exploring how archives become activated as sites of collective resistance and action.

Only 25 places available and registration closes on 16 June.

This we’re highlighting Global Fellow Tanvi Hegade who was recently selected for the 2026 cohort of the Dalai Lama Fellowship, co-organised by the University of Virginia’s Contemplative Sciences Center and the University of Colorado Boulder’s Renée Crown Wellness Institute. The program brings together 19 young leaders from 12 countries working on a diverse array of social innovation projects to promote the flourishing of their communities.

This prestigious program for emerging changemakers aims to cultivate leadership practices rooted in awareness, compassion, and integrity. Through the program’s “Head, Heart & Hands” approach, Tanvi aims to cultivate and implement her learnings in her Dance for Parkinson’s program, to help make it more intentionally rooted in self-awareness, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, listening and communication, and systems-thinking.

This we're highlighting Global Fellow Samwel Japhet. Samwel and Alawi Tadhi are currently performing the North American premiere of A MOMENT – WAKATI in Vancouver. A MOMENT — WAKATI explores shared experiences and the moments that change our lives through images, dance, and music. In April, Samwel will be traveling for the Tanzanian Premiere of BECOMING: From the Streets to Now. In BECOMING, Samwel revisits the layers of his past and the complex emotions, memories, and personal growth shaped by homelessness, abuse, survival, and the search for belonging. Through this performance, audiences are invited to witness a journey of overcoming adversity and reclaiming one’s story through an immersive combination of storytelling, movement, images, text, and music.
