Ahmad was forced to flee because of his art and his sexuality.
Growing up stateless in a refugee camp, he spent much of his life without a place he could truly call home.
But he found belonging through dance. A self-taught dancer, Ahmad auditioned for the Enana Dance Theater in Damascus, Syria when he was sixteen and earned a spot in the company. Today, he performs on stages around the world.
“I feel my body is actually my home as a dancer,” Ahmad reflects. “Wherever I go, I learned how to adapt. I learned how to include myself. I learned how to belong. Wherever there is a dance studio, wherever there is a theater, that's home.
