Results for Development

Results for Development Results for Development (R4D) is a global development nonprofit focused on health, education and nutrition. Prosperity starts with healthy, educated people.

We collaborate with change agents around the world to create strong systems that support healthy, educated people. And that starts with strong, self-sustaining systems. Today’s leaders know they must strengthen systems to achieve sustainable progress in health, education and nutrition. But many grapple with the complexities of how. Results for Development engages change agents in low and middle-in

come countries — government officials, civil society leaders and social innovators — to untangle that “how.” How to mobilize and focus resources to better protect mothers and children from malnutrition so they're able to grow and thrive. How to introduce play-based learning into national early education programs so that young minds can thrive. How to ensure that affordable, high-quality care reaches people living at the furthest edges of the health system. We listen and we learn alongside our partners, bringing global expertise in health, education and nutrition along with an understanding of what makes systems work best, from sustainable financing to engaged citizens. Then we collaborate to transform knowledge into action, strengthening systems so they are self-sustaining, serve everyone and deliver lasting results. What we learn locally, we share globally with our network of practitioners around the world, helping others achieve results for development, too. Finding the how helps change agents move from ambition to results. It builds a world of healthier, more educated people. It transforms “we should” into “we did.” For everyone. For always.

For middle-income countries, some of the most valuable lessons on strengthening immunization come from peer countries who have faced similar challenges.

Through the R4D-managed Linked Immunisation Action Network, countries such as Indonesia, Tunisia and Armenia are learning from each other to tackle persistent challenges and improve how vaccines reach their communities.

A recent blog from Linked offers insights into what's possible when governments move beyond siloed strategies and participate in collaborative learning. 💡

🚀 Calling Experts in Science, Technology, and Innovation across West Africa!

Results for Development (R4D), in partnership with FCDO, is excited to launch the Sankore Helpdesk Specialist Network — a new way to connect local leaders with the expert support they need to strengthen science, technology and innovation (STI) systems across West Africa.

🔍 What is a Helpdesk?
R4D is pioneering Helpdesk models as a faster, more flexible way to support country leaders. These on-demand platforms connect vetted specialists with governments and institutions to rapidly deliver evidence, insights, and hands-on support — helping decision-makers act quickly and confidently on complex challenges.

💡 Members of the Specialist Network may be invited to:
• Respond to Helpdesk requests with targeted research, briefings or strategy support
• Co-create policy guidance, facilitate stakeholder consultations or design programs
• Support MEL and implementation in dynamic, fast-moving contexts

We’re building a pool of trusted, on-call experts — and we’re looking for talented professionals, particularly in Ghana and Nigeria to join.

📅 Apply by June 30, 2025 (rolling reviews – apply early!)

Collaborative learning is helping to make "Immunization for All" a reality. 💉🌍

With the Linked Immunisation Action Network, countries are engaging in peer-to-peer learning that allows them to share strategies, identify common challenges, and improve access to vaccines.

💡 In Tunisia, health officials preparing to introduce the HPV vaccine faced cultural sensitivities and logistical questions.

Through Linked workshops, they connected with peers from the Philippines, Mongolia, Jordan and Uzbekistan for insights on partnering with local faith leaders and educators to foster community trust.

📱 Indonesia, grappling with a 26% zero-dose rate post-pandemic, found inspiration in Sri Lanka's digital immunization registry.

This peer exchange informed Indonesia's own digital strategies to accelerate vaccine coverage.

👩‍👧 Armenia addressed caregiver knowledge gaps by learning from other countries' community engagement strategies, enhancing their approach to reach under-immunized children.

🔍 How can process mapping enhance nutrition data systems?

📊 was one of the first Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) countries to design and implement a multisectoral nutrition information system (NIS):

📌 The Unified Nutrition Information System for Ethiopia (UNISE) tracks program implementation across several sectors that contribute to the national food and nutrition strategy.

📌 The Resource Tracking and Partner Management tool (RTPM) tracks resources and partnerships that support multisector nutrition programming.

But challenges in data utilization and data quality persist.

In a recent DataDENT blog, R4D experts dive into how process mapping, which captures user experiences and system designs, is paving the way for targeted capacity-strengthening initiatives, including tailored training and mentorship programs.

Moving multisector coordination from theory to practice is complex, and it is important to learn from country experiences. A multisector nutrition information system (NIS) supports coordination by synthesizing data from diverse data sources and across different sectors to provide actionable informat...

Join several R4D experts and others this Thursday, May 8, for a conversation exploring the effects of fragmentation on primary health care and universal health coverage.

They'll present new evidence and hear from Argentina, Burkina Faso, Indonesia and Tanzania on how they are:
1️⃣ Consolidating multiple coverage schemes
2️⃣ Avoiding further fragmentation
3️⃣ Harmonizing health purchasing functions
4️⃣ Streamlining funding flows to the provider level

Don't miss this opportunity to learn from country experiences and practical steps to make PHC financing more efficient, equitable, and effective.

In partnership with Tanzania's Ministry of Health, R4D has been helping improve the country's health commodity supply chain by supporting the implementation of a Bottom-Up Quantification (BUQ) approach. 🤝⚙️🏥

This initiative aims to enhance accountability, reduce waste, and ensure essential health commodities are available where they're needed most.

Learn how R4D’s workshops and technical support are leading to more accurate forecasting and better supply chain management. ➡️ https://loom.ly/bcy8G4w

In Tanzania, using bottom-up quantification for essential health commodities demonstrated potential for greater accountability and ownership.

Countries with high rates of malnutrition have long depended on external funding to deliver essential nutrition services.

While country leaders recognize that this reliance is unsustainable, more urgent and decisive action is needed to prevent the crisis from worsening.

Following this year's Nutrition for Growth Summit in Paris, our experts highlight how countries like Nigeria, Pakistan and Senegal are taking bold steps to mobilize domestic resources and collaborate across sectors.

Read why these efforts are essential to ensuring that sustainable nutrition funding becomes — and remains — a top priority and what governments can do.

Country governments know a reliance on external nutrition financing is unsustainable and are working to change this, but much more is needed.
