ACA has issued a Call for Papers for its 2027 CoatingsTech Conference, which will be held March 15-18 at the Loews Hotel in Kansas City.

The 2027 conference will follow the theme, “The Power of Coatings: Advancing Sustainability & Quality of Life Through Innovation.” ACA is accepting abstract submissions through September 24, 2026.

The CoatingsTech Conference offers experts from industry, academia, and government a platform for sharing the industry’s latest technological research and developments, and features a multi-track forum, industry awards, and presentation opportunities for both industry professionals and students.

ACA welcomes David Bloomgren as its Director of External Communications. Bloomgren joins ACA’s Communications team with extensive public affairs and strategic communications experience across government and industry. Bloomgren served as a senior advisor to two U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrators during the Obama Administration, as well as Communications Director for both the agency’s Office of Air and Radiation and the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance.

Bloomgren has also led and supported communications efforts in the private sector, including in nuclear energy, renewable energy development, sustainability, and efforts to address plastic waste. He worked at strategic communications firms in Washington, D.C., advising companies and organizations across the energy, retail, nonprofit, and other sectors.

ACA is thrilled to have David as part of the team and looks forward to him amplifying our Explore Coatings message and reach!

Aerospace coatings can minimize drag in the air and eliminate debris build-up, both of which reduce airplane fuel consumption, and thereby, carbon footprint. Such savings have both an economic and environmental impact that cannot be understated: a 1% improvement in fuel efficiency in the aviation industry can lower fuel costs by $700 million a year, according to the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The month of August might be winding down, but back to school season is just beginning in school districts across the United States. As students and teachers head back into the classroom after summer break, you can thank coatings for the important role they play in ensuring safe and comfortable learning environments in our schools.

For example, certain high-durability (HD) wall coatings have been designed with special technology to provide an extended service life in areas that are frequently disinfected and scrubbed, allowing classrooms and school hallways to be effectively and repeatedly cleaned and sanitized throughout the school year.
