The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association was proud to partner with the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI - San Diego, the Miramar Senior Center, and Lions Clubs International to host an important community awareness program focused on Elder Fraud and Health Care Fraud prevention.

Fraud schemes targeting older adults continue to evolve, costing victims billions of dollars each year and often causing significant emotional and financial hardship. Health care fraud is equally concerning, involving scams related to Medicare, medical billing, prescription drugs, identity theft, and fraudulent health services that can compromise both finances and personal health information.

Through education, awareness, and community partnerships, we can help seniors, caregivers, and families recognize warning signs, protect themselves from scams, and know where to report suspicious activity.
A special thank you to our partners, volunteers, and attendees for helping make this event a success. Together, we can build a safer, more informed, and more resilient community.

The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association and the FBI - San Diego proudly collaborated to raise awareness on critical issues including elder fraud, internet crime, healthcare fraud, and more at the “Just Ask” event.

This impactful community outreach initiative, hosted by the City of Chula Vista in partnership with Lions Clubs International, provided valuable resources and guidance to local residents—empowering them to stay informed, vigilant, and protected.

We’re excited to share an incredible opportunity for local students—the FBI - San Diego Teen Academy!

This free program offers high school students a unique chance to develop leadership skills while exploring the world of law enforcement through hands-on experiences in fitness, forensic science, and real-world safety topics like violence prevention and online threats.

Students will engage directly with FBI professionals—including special agents and intelligence analysts—to learn not just what they do, but why they serve.

The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association, in partnership with the FBI - San Diego and the San Diego Elder Justice Task Force, recently hosted an Elder Fraud and Health Care Fraud awareness presentations at the San Diego Police Department Police Plaza. The event was well attended, with 74 participants who came together to learn about these important initiatives, gain valuable insights, and better understand how to recognize and prevent fraud in our community.

Today we recognize Slam the Scam Day, a reminder to stay alert and help protect our community from fraud and government impersonation scams.

The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association encourages everyone to stay informed, be cautious of suspicious calls or messages, and report scams to the authorities.

Awareness is one of the best tools we have to prevent fraud.

Cyber threats impact us all. The FBISDCAAA is proud to support and share this cybersecurity awareness initiative from the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation—because informed communities are safer communities. 🛡️

If you are a victim of an online or internet-enabled crime, file a report with the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) as soon as possible. Crime reports support investigations, intelligence efforts, and may help with the recovery of lost funds. Learn more and stay informed about current crime trends at ic3.gov

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Human trafficking impacts individuals and communities across the country, often hidden in plain sight. Awareness is a critical first step in prevention.

The FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association proudly supports the FBI – Federal Bureau of Investigation’s efforts to raise awareness, educate the public, and protect vulnerable populations. By learning the warning signs and knowing how to report concerns, we can all play a role in helping stop exploitation.

Together, through awareness, partnership, and community engagement, we can make a difference.

FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association 2025 Year In Review

In 2025, the FBI San Diego Citizens Academy Alumni Association had a highly impactful year supporting the FBI - San Diego through a wide range of community outreach programs and initiatives. FBISDCAAA members contributed over 2,000 volunteer hours supporting efforts such as Elder Fraud Prevention programs, the Victim Assistance Program (VAP), the Adopt-a-School initiative, National Night Out events, Shop with a Cop, quarterly briefings, member events and tours, and community outreach at airshow and public safety events.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our members for their continued dedication, unwavering commitment, and invaluable support, which made these initiatives possible and impactful throughout the year.
