Women's Aquatic Network

Women's Aquatic Network WAN hosts a variety of DC-area networking events each year. WAN welcomes our 2021 Annual Sponsors: Oceana, Ocean Conservancy, and Restore America's Estuaries.

The Women's Aquatic Network (WAN) brings together professionals with interests in marine, coastal and aquatic affairs and promotes the roles of people in these fields. In addition to our wonderful WAN members, we are supported by generous local and national organizations.

We are excited to announce Imani Black, CEO & Founder of Minorities In Aquaculture, as the 2023 WAN Wavemaker of the Year!

Imani Black is an African American oyster farmer building a career in the rapidly growing industry.

Through her love for her career, Imani founded Minorities In Aquaculture, a nonprofit organization that strives to empower and support the underrepresented demographics (i.e women of color, women in general, men of color, etc) in the aquaculture industry by providing opportunities such as paid internship, technical skills training and career development resources.

NEXT WEEK: Please join us in honoring Imani at the 2023 WAN Annual Holiday Party on December 7 from 6:30-9:30pm at the Reservoir Center for Water Solutions.
