The Plainfield Brunswick Branch is always making meaningful connections in the community!

Branch member Darlene Shaw recently had the pleasure of meeting and supporting author Brenda Williams, whose inspiring book, Worthy & Wonderful: A Celebration of Girls Who Matter, promotes female empowerment and self-worth. The book beautifully celebrates young girls through the stories and images of her four granddaughters.

NAUW applauds opportunities that uplift women, encourage literacy, and empower the next generation of leaders. Thank you, Sister Shaw, for supporting authors whose work inspires confidence, purpose, and possibility in young girls everywhere.

The Halifax County Branch had an outstanding day of community service through their participation in the Build A Bed Project.

Branch members joined dedicated volunteers to help ensure that children throughout Halifax and Northampton Counties have a safe, comfortable place to rest and thrive. Through their collective efforts, an impressive 45 beds were built for local youth in need. Volunteers not only helped construct the beds but also assisted with delivery, assembly, and the addition of bedding and essentials, transforming each bed into a welcoming space for a child and family.

The Build A Bed Project represents more than the creation of furniture, it is an investment in the well-being of children. Quality sleep supports healthy development, academic achievement, and overall wellness, while reminding young people that they are valued and supported by their community.

We commend the Halifax County Branch for exemplifying the NAUW mission through service, compassion, and action. Their efforts demonstrate that when individuals unite around a common purpose, they can build more than beds, they can help build hope, opportunity, and brighter futures for generations to come.

The young ladies enjoyed an afternoon of games, delicious food, laughter, and friendly competition at the bowling lanes, creating memories and strengthening bonds that will last well beyond the season.

We would like to thank Youth Committee Chair Maxine Woods and Co-Chair Katisha Lathan for their dedication, leadership, and commitment to mentoring and inspiring our youth throughout the year.

Today we honor and celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, bonus mothers, caregivers, and nurturing women whose love, wisdom, sacrifice, and strength help shape our families and communities every day.

Mothers are educators, leaders, encouragers, and protectors, often carrying generations forward with grace and resilience. Their impact reaches far beyond the home and continues to inspire future leaders and changemakers.

To every woman who pours into others with care and compassion, we thank you. May today remind you just how valued, appreciated, and loved you are. 💚
