Dance Presenter -Dance Place offers a year-round weekend dance performing series since 1980, with dance shows every weekend in modern dance, African Dance, tap dance, performance art, hip hop, and spoken word by Washington, DC dance companies as well as regional and international dance companies. Dance School -Dance Place’s school offers dance classes for adults in modern dance, African dance, hip

hop dance, and other dance forms and dance classes for youth in creative movement, tumbling, tap dance, ballet and hip hop. Established professional dancers come to Dance Place for continuous training, renewal, professional networking, auditions, and workshops that further their career development. Dance Place offers work/study and internship programs which offer aspiring dancers an opportunity to take dance classes for free. Programs for Kids and Schools - Dance Place offers family-friendly performances, workshops, classes, school assembly programs, and school performances at Dance Place and off-site in schools for kids, students, families and community organizations. The Energizers after school program provides a model program for creative education through the arts for youth living in urban communities. Dance Place has a commitment to serving the rich cultural diversity of our nation, city and immediate neighborhood through a wide variety of affordable and free programs. Leadership and Collaboration - Dance Place’s demonstrated success in management, staff development, fiscal responsibility, creative programming and leadership has been an invaluable resource for other organizations and artists reaching for health, stability and creativity.

🕊️ Ronya Lee and the Light Factory ✨ : Thank you for guiding us through your exploration of marronage. As our final ’25–’26 recipient of the Carla Perlo Fund for Choreography & Performance, it was our honor to present “Flight! 1.0,” as you invited our audience into an active meditation on collective world-building. ✨

🏡 Chitra Subramanian : Thank you for bringing “Village Stories” home to Dance Place, and for helping us create meaningful connections and transformation with each other. It is always a joy to present our Resident Artists and support their works. 🫂
