On Monday February 23rd, the Next Generation 9-1-1 Institute hosted the 23rd Annual 9-1-1 Honor Awards in conjunction with the National Emergency Number Association (NENA) 9-1-1 Goes to Washington events. Congressman Richard Hudson (R-NC) and Congresswoman Norma Torres (D-CA) joined us as featured speakers. We are honored to recognize Leaders and Heroes in Public Safety and Emergency Response Technologies!

NG911 Awareness Award - North Carolina 911 Board
Over the past year, the North Carolina State 911 Board staff have been sharing their story and presentation across the country, "Validating the Implementation of NG911: 911's Response to Hurricane Helene." This presentation was created to share information about NG911, its functionality, the benefits of NG911, and how it saved lives during one of the most devastating storms in the state's history, promoting the education and implementation of NG911 across the country.

911 Industry Professional - Ethan P. Killeen, Critical Response Group
With over a decade of experience in indoor geospatial data and emergency response technology, Ethan has led the internal mapping of more than 25,000 locations across the United States, in 43 states, assisting first responders, school safety officials, and the 911 community to better respond to emergency events.

911 Public Safety Professional - Wendy Doran, Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office
Wendy, a telecommunicator, answered a call regarding a baby that had stopped breathing. In those critical seconds, she utilized RapidVideo, a 1-way video feed, and provided step-by-step guidance. Wendy embraced NG911 innovation to save a life.

Outstanding Call Center - Northern Virginia TERT Team
This Northern Virginia TERT Team was activated during Hurricane Helene to provide operational and logistical support to a compromised 9-1-1 center in Buncombe County, North Carolina. This was the first time in NOVA history that a collective regional response for 9-1-1 assistance was achieved, marking a milestone achievement in regional assistance within the industry.
