Fostering Egyptian-American Dialogue for Freedom and Democracy in Egypt

Headed up by Dr. Abdulmawgoud R. Dardery, the Center for Egyptian-American Dialogue is a not-for-profit organization based in Washington, D.C. with the mission to support a civil, democratic, and just Egyptian state.

Since the military coup led by General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi stole away the first-ever democratically elected president Mohamed Morsy, imprisoning him and replacing him with a repressive military regime in control, we have witnessed a steady decrease in stability and security in Egypt and human rights violations that go directly against Egyptian rule of law and international law.

Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, among countless other human rights organizations and activists have documented and reported on the human rights violations in Egypt, including as many as 50,000 political prisoners, including men, women, and young people.

The current Egyptian military regime has created a repressive environment that extinguishes basic democratic principles such as freedom of speech, legitimate elections, and the right to a fair trial in the criminal justice system as well as access to basic universal human rights such as security and access to proper food, healthcare, education, and economic opportunity.
