Last month, our Executive Director Elijah Perry announced his resignation, effective on May 31.
Elijah has been part of the GRID Mid-Atlantic family since 2018. During his time as executive director, GRID Mid-Atlantic installed solar for 111 families in the region, helping them save $1.6 million in total energy costs and eliminating 7,930 tons of carbon emissions. GRID Mid-Atlantic also trained 236 individuals for careers in solar and placed 84 of those graduates into clean energy jobs.
As executive director, Elijah has been a voice for inclusion, equity, and diversity in the solar industry and beyond. We are grateful for his tireless advocacy for environmental and economic justice in the communities we serve! ✊🏾💚
From Elijah:
"After much reflection and consideration, I have decided to pursue new opportunities that align more closely with my long-term personal and professional goals. This decision was not made lightly, as I appreciate my time with GRID Mid-Atlantic and our incredible work together as an organization at large.
"As Executive Director, my top priority has always been doing what’s best for the community. I am a native Washingtonian, and the people of this city and this region have a special place in my heart. I am deeply grateful for the support and camaraderie I have experienced from our workforce trainees, homeowners, corporate partners, donors, volunteers, and others. I will cherish the memories and friendships I've built over the years.
"I am committed to ensuring a smooth transition over the coming weeks to ensure the next leader of GRID Mid-Atlantic has all the tools for success at their disposal. With everyone’s dedication and hard work, GRID Mid-Atlantic will continue to thrive and make a lasting difference in our communities. Thank you once again for your support and all that you do for the communities we serve!"
