Yesterday was a wonderful day catching up with a few MGEF post-secondary students. Each of these four young women are working towards their passions through education. A businesswoman, a health information management professional, a community health worker, and a neurosurgeon. It was a fascinating and fun visit.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting with MGEF's 2026 scholarship recipients. Bright young faces excited to start their new schools this week for Term 1. What a privilege to be a part of their academic journey.

This Giving Tuesday happens to fall on the first full day of MGEF’s 2025 Mentoring Workshop.

Our students and alumnae are arriving from near and far—more than 135 Maasai girls and young women coming together to support each other and celebrate their graduations and achievements.

MGEF is so very proud of our ever-growing alumnae network. The perfect role models for our younger students, our wise graduates facilitate the Workshop, taking questions, listening to concerns, and giving invaluable advice and encouragement. In sharing their academic and life experience with their younger MGEF sisters, they give of themselves.

It was an exciting and well-attended first day of MGEF's Annual Mentoring Workshop. Once again, our secondary and primary students have gathered together for a three-day workshop facilitated by the MGEF alumnae and post-secondary students. It will be a time of mentorship along with games, skits, friendship and fun.

MGEF is very proud of Kureti Turere for completing her Certificate in Business Management. Kureti has been an MGEF scholarship recipient since Kindergarten. It has been a pleasure to be a part of her academic journey.

MGEF is very proud of our newest student, Blessing. Blessing is a 10-year-old girl who only 2 months ago had never been to school. One of the local chiefs discovered her herding goats on the side of the road and brought her to us for a scholarship. After one of our staff visited her home, she was immediately accepted into the MGEF Scholarship Program. Blessing loves her school and has impressed her teacher, who says she is a very fast learner. She has already graduated from her pre-school classes and requirements and is ready for 1st grade.

On this International Day of the Girl, MGEF celebrates the accomplishments, no matter how great or small, of girls all over the world. All are making a difference in their families and their communities every day.

Thanks to the generous support of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club (bccrotary.org), the MGEF's Esonorus Women's Business Cohort was able to purchase and install two 5,000 liter water tanks in their village at the end of February. They have been up and running for almost three weeks now. Not only is this a good business opportunity which helps these women become more financially independent, but fresh water is also a much-needed commodity that will benefit their entire community.

MGEF has gone to space, thanks to sponsors Anna and Anil Menon and the Polaris Dawn Program. Anna was one of the four crew members that spent five days orbiting through portions of the Van Allen radiation belt. The Polaris Dawn crew conducted research with the aim of better understanding the effects of spaceflight and space radiation on human health. Anna took a picture of her MGEF student, Emily, and a picture of our students from last year's Mentoring Workshop along for the journey. You can imagine the excitement of Emily and our students to see their photographs in space.

Today was the opening day of MGEF's 2024 Mentoring Workshop. Over 80 of our students arrived this morning excited to start the three days of mentoring, fun and sisterhood. A big thank you to our wonderful MGEF-Kajiado staff, post-secondary students and alumnae for organizing and facilitating this year's workshop.
