Meet Angel Gregorio, our featured speaker for this year’s Crowns in the Garden.

Founder of The Spice Suite and Black and Forth, Angel’s path to community development has taken her from the classroom to entrepreneurship to commercial development, all while creating opportunities for others to grow alongside her.

Educator. Advocate. Entrepreneur. Developer. Community builder.

At Crowns in the Garden, Angel will join WCCD President Maia Shanklin Roberts for a fireside conversation exploring what it means to build differently, invest in community, and create space for others to rise.

Come dressed for the garden. Bring your crown. We’ll take care of the rest.

Some traditions are worth growing.

Year after year, WCCD’s Sustaining Member Brunch has brought together women who are building communities, shaping industries, opening doors, and making space for one another along the way.

These moments from years past are a reminder that the brunch has always been about more than gathering around a table. It is about celebrating the relationships, leadership, and sisterhood that sustain this community.

On September 19, we gather again for Crowns in the Garden and add another chapter to the tradition.

A crown is more than what you wear. It is the confidence you have earned, the leadership you practice, the joy you protect, and the legacy you are building.

At Crowns in the Garden, every hat becomes an expression of the woman beneath it. Bold, elegant, unexpected, deeply personal. Together, they reflect the many ways women of color show up, lead, and strengthen the communities around them.

There is no single way to wear your crown. Only your way.

Join us in the garden and make it yours. Reserve your seat here: https://womenofcolorcd.org/event-6765866

From vineyard views to meaningful conversations, last Saturday was another beautiful reminder of why WCCD exists: to cultivate community, celebrate connection, and support women of color in community development.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for a day of fellowship with an incredible network of women committed to shaping stronger communities.

Here’s a look back at some of our favorite moments.

We can’t wait to see you at our next signature event, Crowns in the Garden, on September 19

This is a critical moment for women of color in community development.

As our industry continues to navigate change, WCCD believes this is precisely the time to gather, recommit to one another, and be reminded of what's possible when women lead, build, and invest in their communities.

Our Sustaining Members Brunch is more than an annual tradition. It is a celebration of the women whose leadership strengthens our neighborhoods, our institutions, and one another.

This year's theme, Crowns in the Garden, honors the resilience, leadership, and legacy every woman brings into the room.

We hope you'll join us on September 19. RSVP Here: https://womenofcolorcd.org/event-6765866

Behind every statistic is an opportunity to ask better questions.

How do we create workplaces where more women, and especially women of color, have access to the relationships that accelerate careers?

At WCCD, we believe connection is one part of the answer.
