“Higher education does not need less accountability. It needs smarter accountability.”

In a new op-ed published today in Inside Higher Ed [TAG INSIDE HIGHER ED] CHEA President Nasser H. Paydar examines the U.S. Department of Education’s proposed Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization (AIM) regulations and why reform should strengthen—not redefine—the role of accreditation.

Nasser argues that reform should strengthen accreditation’s ability to evaluate educational quality—not expand its role into areas better addressed by institutions, states, the federal government, and other authorities.
