Many women are carrying more than what is visible. Between caregiving, professional responsibilities, personal healing journeys and everyday pressures, the nervous system can quietly shift into survival mode: fight, flight or freeze.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to share insight from Jer’Nae Dickens Brown, MA Ed & HD, LPC, LCPC, NCC - one of our GW Hospital Women’s Board Members and Owner of N.E. Beautiful Mind, LLC.
In her article, Supporting Women Through Nervous System Regulation in Uncertain Times, Jer’Nae shares that taking small moments of regulation daily can make a meaningful difference in emotional well-being and resilience.
She encourages women to create intentional “micro-moments of safety” daily that can include:
• Pause and breathe deeply
• Step outside for fresh air
• Sit in silence for two minutes
• Slow, intentional movement (yoga, walking)
