American Relief Coalition for Syria

American Relief Coalition for Syria ARCS is a coalition of Syrian-American relief & humanitarian organizations dedicated to delivering aid and development to Syrians. WHY ARCS?

ARCS supports its member organizations through advocacy, coordination, and capacity building. Since March 2011, over 270,000 Syrians have been killed in Syria. Over half of the country (11 million people) have been internally displaced or have become refugees in neighboring countries: Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt. Thousands of people, including women and children, have been severely in

jured. Deadly illnesses have spread across Syria due to the lack of basic health care services, clean water, adequate nutrition, and access to vaccines. Schools and public buildings are now homes to millions of displaced families with hundreds of thousands more living in squalid tents in IDP camps that stretch across Syrian borders. For these reasons and many more, according to the UN, Syria is now home to the worst humanitarian crisis in our history. How can WE help alleviate this crisis and help the Syrian people? In 2013, major Syrian-American relief organizations joined forces to form a coalition of aid groups dedicated to work together to collectively provide Syrians with humanitarian assistance. By pooling the talents and expertise of hundreds of professionals, ARCS members cover all fields of aid and development including: food & clothing programs, shelter, medical aid, education, women’s development programs, refugee assistance, and sustainable giving programs. ARCS members have formed a trusted network of on-the-ground partners in Syria, thus securing cross-border and cross-line operations that expand aid deliveries to areas that international organizations cannot reach. ARCS also partners with national and international NGOs to develop their programs, increase efficiency, and broaden outreach. ARCS ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2013
In 2013, ARCS has collectively raised millions of dollars dedicated to aid for Syrians. The funds were distributed across the country and in refugee camps delivering: medical aid, equipment to field hospitals, school supplies, thousands of tons of heating fuel, food baskets for thousands of internally displaced families, thousands of winter packages of blankets and clothes for Syrian children, and monthly supplies of infant formula. In the medical field, ARCS members have established over 52 field hospitals and medical points, supported 14 advanced medical centers and 65 trauma care facilities, provided free dialysis treatment, primary care and vaccination campaign, and dental services and shipped $6.5 million worth of medical equipment and supplies. In addition to providing basic necessities, ARCS members are currently focused on development projects that promote sustainable giving such as flour mills, bakeries, and women’s workshop centers. ARCS members are also committed to education and psycho-social development for Syrian children by developing creative mentorship programs for refugee children and sponsoring schools both inside and outside Syria. EMPOWERING LOCAL ACTORS--

Since March 2011, over 400,000 Syrians have been killed in Syria. Over half of the country (13 million people) have been internally displaced or have become refugees in neighboring countries: Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey, Iraq, and Egypt. Thousands of people, including women and children, have been severely injured.

MISSION & VISION- The mission of ARCS is to be a voice for US-based Syrian diaspora organizations who are providing humanitarian and development services for Syrians worldwide, through advocacy and outreach. ARCS serves as an impetus for positive change, social welfare, and progress through serving as a platform for coordination and organizational development.

Our vision is to empower Syrian voices, both in Syria and in the diaspora. We envision a world where Syrian voices are heard, and their dreams are empowered to become a reality.
