We're excited to announce the Beyond the Walls writing contest, a part of NRCAT's 20th anniversary celebration.

Sponsored by the NRCAT National Network of Solitary Survivors, in partnership with Solitary Watch, this contest uplifts the lived experiences, resilience, and advocacy of individuals who have endured solitary confinement.

This contest is open to all formerly incarcerated people who have experienced solitary and runs from May 1st - May 31st. Winners will be announced in June (Torture Awareness Month).

1st Place: $1,000, 2nd Place: $500, 3rd Place: $250

Winning pieces will be published on the Solitary Watch website.
