Culturfied

Culturfied Culturfied Foundation Inc. is a Washington, DC nonprofit, IRS 501(c)(3) organization. We believe that culture and innovation are boundlessly intertwined.

Culturfied was originally founded to help nurture a global mindset among middle school aged students by fostering intercultural learning, and through enhancing appreciation for cultures (e.g., social habits, arts, cuisine, religion, civics, music, language, etc.) other than one’s own. Our organization has a documented and successful history of offering global education services that have changed t

he lives of students by opening their eyes to a bigger world around them, and by preparing them to become productive and responsible global citizens. We have since expanded our view with the goal of making an even greater impact on society. We know that innovation is an economic driver – it leads to new jobs, new industries, and typically a better way of life. We also know that innovation is driven by creativity and critical thinking – an ability to empathize with and define challenges to be solved. It is exposure to experiences outside of our normal environment that is a fundamental element of developing an innovative mindset. Our purpose is to contribute to economy-bolstering innovation and entrepreneurship by providing formal and informal cultural education and training experiences across the development continuum.

Happy Black History Month, Culturfied Community! We'll be sharing STEM-based stories and history throughout the month that have impacted Black culture or where African Americans directly impacted science and technology advancements. We are starting with the Tuskegee Syphilis Study. The effects of this study continue to affect the Black community and how many view medicine and treatment. This is especially relevant in terms of the COVID-19 pandemic response. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate! What a year it's been. As we start to look toward 2021, Culturfied has some exciting news to announce! First off, we are broadening our mission with the recognition that culture, science, technology, and innovation are deeply connected. Second, to help us tackle this mission, we recently hired a new Executive Director, Ms. Camylle Coley. Camylle comes to us with an extensive background in STEM education and international diplomacy. She will help us achieve our vision: A society that not only understands but values culture's role in science and innovation.

We hope that you'll join us - we have a lot of work to do!

100 percent of your tax-deductible donation goes toward fulfilling the Culturfied mission. The innovative, culturally competent society we envision requires engagement across the continuum of human development. Check out this Harvard Business Review article from Stacey Fitzsimmons, et al. on what it means to be "multicultural":

Individual people can be multicultural in three different (albeit inter-related) ways: they can have deep knowledge of, they can identify with, and they can have internalized more than one culture. This article delves into those three aspects of being multicultural and describes what benefits can accrue from each of them.

What do you think?

Knowledge of more than one culture can often help you create innovative solutions.
