Meet Eli O., one of our incredible Youth Ambassadors!

Last year as a Youth Ambassador, Eli raised over $30,000 for the DC/MD Gala, using his voice and his story to help move Breakthrough T1D's mission forward.

Youth ambassadors like Eli spend the school year building leadership and advocacy skills, connecting with peers, and sharing what it's like to live with type 1 diabetes (T1D).

We are so excited to announce the Auction Chair of the 2026 Breakthrough T1D DC Metro/MD Hope Gala - Tom Manatos!

Since his oldest son, Andrew, was diagnosed with T1D the day after his 7th birthday, Tom and his family have jumped full force into the mission of Breakthrough T1D, serving in multiple roles and attending events across the chapter.

We are excited to join Tom and the entire Manatos family in the ballroom on November 14th at Union Station.
