In case you missed yesterday's AfricaNow! (AfricaNow! Aug. 21, 2024 Echoes of FESTAC '77 with Brother Abdul Alkalimat) it is available on SoundCloud. Attended by more than 17,000 participants from over 50 countries from January 15 to February 12, 1977, the Second World Black and African Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC ’77) was significantly the largest Pan-African cultural event ever held in continental Africa. AfricaNow! features Dr. Abdul Alkalimat's presentation given at FESTAC ’77 in Lagos and recent reflections of the Pan-African cultural event. The reflections by Dr. Alkalimat were made at the International Colloquium at the International Black Theatre Festival (July 29-August 3, 2024), that Africa World Now Project coordinated.
