Moonshot Missions recently visited the Mawsa PA Wastewater Treatment Plant in Manheim, Pennsylvania đźš°

The visit focused on exploring how Moonshot can support MAWSA with future regulatory changes, long-term financial and operational planning, and nutrient management strategies.

We are grateful to the Campbell Foundation for making this partnership with MAWASA possible, and we look forward to continuing our work to strengthen resilient wastewater systems and improve water quality across the Chesapeake Bay watershed 🦀

Moonshot Missions was proud to present and conduct a site visit at the Passamaquoddy Tribal Government- Indian Township Reservation alongside an incredible group of leaders and operators committed to strengthening their wastewater systems đź’§

This visit focused on hands-on assessment, collaboration, and long-term planning, from improving lagoon and collection systems to identifying funding pathways and building sustainable infrastructure strategies.

What stood out most wasn’t just the technical work—it was the partnership. Listening first, adapting in real time, and immersing ourselves in the community are what make meaningful progress possible.

This is what the Moonshot Method is all about: combining technical expertise with genuine connection to help communities build reliable, affordable water systems for the future đź’™

Moonshot Missions was honored to present a panel discussion at the 2026 U.S. WASH Convening, hosted by Vessel in partnership with DigDeep đź’§

Moonshot Missions’ team members George Hawkins, Shannon Pagano, Andy Koester, Joy Pearson, and Andy Kricun presented on “Scaling WASH Solutions: Managing Effective TA Projects from Start to Finish.”

The discussion focused on real-world lessons from supporting small, rural, Tribal, and under-resourced communities across the country, including the technical, financial, managerial, and social barriers that keep access gaps in place.

The panel highlighted practical, community-centered strategies for moving projects forward—from “doable first” solutions and capacity-building through technical assistance to regionalization and shared services that can improve long-term system resilience.

Moonshot believes that each step towards progress is a success, and it is important to remember that breaking down large projects into smaller, achievable steps can maintain hope in the communities đź’™

George Hawkins was delighted to participate in a recent panel at the National Press Club, moderated beautifully by Paul Gagliardo, hosted by BPR International and The Water Entrepreneur, and sponsored by ASTERRA đź’§

The backdrop was the shortfall of funds for water infrastructure, measured in billions of dollars each year, coupled with the slow adoption of technologies that could save and generate critical resources.

The key is to relentlessly focus on the “how” of innovation adoption, not just the “what” (e.g. what technologies, what they do, what’s new). “How” questions dictate both what a utility is ready to take on and how quickly that change can happen. This change can be particularly difficult for utilities with limited personnel and financial resources.

Moonshot Missions is designed to help utilities navigate the challenges surrounding technology adoption to unlock lasting change that improves public health and the balance sheet. There are many management and financial innovations that spur these changes, paired with hands-on work with staff to ensure they lead the charge.

Let us know if we can help your utility unlock the promise of better performance and lower costs:
