"Above all, our thoughts are with Erik.

"We cherish his service and friendship and know that every day can be Klassic. It doesn't take a golf tournament to do so, and we are disappointed to announce that we are cancelling Klassic 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic and our concerns for your safety. In addition to keeping safety in mind, this was also done in consultation with Ed and Sam Kristensen in terms of what would be best overall. Scheduled for September 28, golfers and sponsors may donate their funds (all monies will be placed in Erik's memorial scholarship fund at Gonzaga College High School) or seek full refunds. Please email all refund requests to Andrew Battaile at [email protected] so we can expedite those requests...

Greetings from The Klassic, where we are preparing for a real Fall Klassic. Not the baseball one, but a real one that will celebrate our friend, Erik. That's right, we are moving Klassic 2020 to Monday, September 28, 2020 and hope you can join us.

In our years of honoring Erik, we have always had a plan. The first Klassic, that plan went out the window as we dealt with a literal deluge! The good folks at Andrews let us play, the golfers hung tough, and we all loved that Erik was laughing with us as we did our best when thrown a curveball.

We celebrate Erik's sacrifice and service as well as the service of all those in uniform. This year, we are taking a page out of the branch born out of Tun Tavern, our United States Marine Corps. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we now must adapt, improvise, and overcome.

Adapt: due to the pandemic, our original date of May 18 is not possible. We are sorry that we cannot have the event on this date, but many different factors have caused the need to postpone the event including our concern for your safety.

Improvise: we have worked with the dedicated people at Kenwood, and they have been nothing short of welcoming. They look forward to hosting us and honoring Erik with us. We now have a new date for The Klassic: Monday, September 28. If you have sponsored or registered for the May 18 event, you now are automatically sponsoring or registered for The Klassic on September 28. However, if you know you are not available on that date, we are happy to provide a refund or to credit you with a donation to Erik's scholarship. If you would like a refund or a donation receipt, please contact Andrew Battaile at [email protected], and he can assist you.

Overcome: we have overcome many obstacles to reach a point where our event is established. We have accomplished so much good in honoring Erik by assisting needy military families at Gonzaga. We are forging ahead, working our hardest to pull off The Klassic 2020. This pandemic is serious. Be safe, be healthy and wash your hands.

We'll keep you posted and sincerely appreciate your continued support. We look forward to seeing you for a real Fall Klassic in September. Bring your Birkenstocks and as always,

Greetings from Klassic 2020, where we offer a special thought during these challenging times - today is Erik's birthday. We are so thankful for the years of friendship and service that Erik gave us. He and the Kristensens are in our thoughts today, and we look forward to celebrating Erik on May 18 at Kenwood Country Club.

During these trying times, we are thankful for your support. We say THANK YOU to Mike Thornton, Medal of Honor recipient and Navy SEAL, for his Captain sponsorship of Klassic 2020. Thank you, Mike!

Take a moment today to think of Erik and the Kristensens. Remember to thoroughly wash your hands and wish our dear friend a Happy Birthday.

Greetings from Klassic 2020, where we are thrilled to report that about a quarter of our Klassic 2020 golfing spots are full since our last email. We are tremendously thankful for your support of The Klassic, the Kristensens and our dear friend, Erik.
