In honor of Pride Month, it’s important to recognize that young LGBTQ+ people face sexual violence at rates higher than the general U.S. population.

Almost 2 in 5 LGBTQ+ people ages 13-24 have been coerced into sexual acts they didn’t want to do, and almost half of LGBTQ+ people ages 13-18 have suffered acts of sexual violence.

In a recent report, the Trevor Project found an association between frequency of sexual violence and rates of attempted su***de among LGBTQ+ young people. Those who have experienced sexual assault are more likely to both consider su***de and attempt su***de.

Activists, who were on a flotilla trying to take aid to Gaza, returned from the Israeli government's custody with injuries from violence, including and not limited to sexual abuse. Despite many being hospitalized, Israel’s prison service denied the allegation. This is an example of state-sanctioned and state-tolerated sexual violence that is happening in many prison facilities.

SVPA's Workplace sexual violence framework tackles and identifies all forms of sexual assault and harassment that happen between stakeholders, and "customers against employees" is one of the four forms. Employers are responsible for protecting their employees against this pervasive issue.

Google Play Store and Apple App Store are regularly suggesting their users apps that generate non-consensual explicit materials, despite their policies prohibiting apps that do so. SVPA joined UltraViolet and 54 advocacy organizations in a letter urging state attorneys general to take legal action against these digital distribution platforms for promoting "nudify" apps.
