🚨 New Resource: Understanding the Impact of the Supreme Court's TPS Ruling on Campus Communities

The Supreme Court recently ruled that the administration's termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti and Syria may proceed, affecting approximately 350,000 Haitians and 6,100 Syrians. While the decision has significant implications, TPS protections and certain TPS-based Employment Authorization Documents (EADs)remain in effect until the lower court formally lifts its pause.

To help colleges, universities, and impacted campus community members navigate this evolving situation, the Presidents' Alliance has published a one pager outlining:

This week, the Presidents’ Alliance released a statement on Special Student Relief (SSR).
The U.S. is set to lose its last remaining SSR designation on May 27, 2026—quietly eliminating a critical policy that supports international students from countries experiencing crisis.
SSR has historically allowed eligible students to maintain their studies while adapting to financial and personal challenges caused by war, natural disasters, and instability in their home countries. Its disappearance adds to the growing barriers facing international students—particularly those from refugee and displaced backgrounds. At least 22,096 students from affected countries may be impacted.
