Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria

Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria Since 1986, Rebuilding Together DC • Alexandria and our amazing volunteers have provided free home repairs to in-need neighbors and community spaces.

Our Vision: Safe homes and communities for everyone. Rebuilding Together Alexandria impacts the overall quality of life for residents in the City of Alexandria in many ways including maintaining affordable housing, revitalizing communities, and stabilizing low- and moderate-income areas by eliminating blight in many neighborhoods. We are dedicated to repairing and rehabilitating homes free of cost

for those in need, including the elderly, persons with disabilities, military veterans, and families with children. Since 1986, this non-profit organization has been committed to donating home repairs to the in-need families of our Alexandria, Virginia community. Learn about our history. We are part of a national network of over 200 affiliates, making Rebuilding Together the nation's largest nonprofit working to preserve affordable homeownership and to revitalize neighborhoods by providing home repair services free of charge to those in need. Rebuilding Together Alexandria has many programs that support our mission:

National Rebuilding Day --The core initiative of Rebuilding Together Alexandria is National Rebuilding Day when volunteers provide free home repairs for low-income homeowners. Veterans Housing --We assist veterans, active-duty service members and military families maintain safe and accessible housing. Safe & Healthy Homes --This initiative allows the elderly and people with disabilities to age in place by addressing home repair and maintenance issues that present safety risks or limit access to and within their home. Energize Alexandria --Our green housing program saves homeowners money on utility bills and provides healthier home environments and communities through energy efficient home repairs and weatherization. Rebuilding Together Alexandria is a gift of volunteered time and materials given to repair the homes of homeowners who are physically or financially unable to perform these repairs. Because of the work RTAs volunteers do, physically-challenged recipients become more self-sufficient with greater home mobility, most elderly clients age-in-place for many years beyond the repair year, and families don't have to choose between feeding their children or fixing a leaking roof. RTA provides repair services year round, but the emphasis of our volunteer projects still focuses on National Rebuilding Day -- held every year in the month of April, and is the culmination of volunteer rebuilding events leading up to the last weekend of that month throughout communities in the United States. Nearly one thousand volunteers give their time and skills to help local families with home repairs
