Safety starts with a shared understanding.
A recent Construction Dive article highlights an important industrywide effort to standardize jobsite safety language around terms like “high hazard,” “high energy” and “STCKY” — hazards with the potential to cause serious injuries and fatalities.
For ironworkers and our signatory contractors, this reinforces what strong labor-management partnerships are built on: planning early, communicating clearly and making sure the skilled craftworkers doing the work have a voice in identifying and controlling hazards.
When owners, contractors, supervisors and craftworkers speak the same safety language, jobsites become more predictable, better coordinated and safer for everyone.
At IMPACT, we know safety is not just a requirement — it is a shared responsibility and a core part of delivering the highest quality work in the industry.

Workers find hazard planning and identification vary from jobsite to jobsite. Construction Safety Week leaders are looking to adopt the same vocabulary.
