GW 동문 여러분,
일요일 George Washington University Jorean Alumni Banquet 에서 이수동 전회장님께서 Jeff Ahn Prize 동문상 수상 소감으로 이런 말씀을 하셨습니다. “GW 에 입학은 했지만 오랜기간 졸업을 못한 이유는 사업 과 삶이 바빴기 때문이다“. 그말씀을 듣는 순간 사실 저는 가슴속이 뭉클했었습니다.

그이유는 제가 1979년 미군에서 재대하고 워싱턴에 돌아온후 1980년초 대학에 입학을 했습니다. 그러나 part time 학생으로 다니다가 얼마 못가서 포기했습니다. 삶이 급박했고 life 가intervene 한것이죠. 돌이켜보면 그때 저에게 가장 없었던것이 “돈“ 이었습니다. 학비가 없어서 택시도 몰고, 구두수건가게에서 cobbler 일도 했었습니다.
러시아의 문호 푸쉬킨의 ”삶이 그대을 속일지라도” 울 굳이 인용하지 않더라도 그당시 저에게 삶이 전쟁이었기에 대학을 계속 다닌다는것이 사치였습니다.
그러다가 수없는 시행착오다 하고 우여곡절후에 겨우 자리를 잡으니 제 와이프가 학교을 마치라고 건의

The GW Korean Alumni Association held the end of the year Banquet at the historic Army Navy Country Club in Arlington, Virginia, at the Five Stars Ballroom. The black tie event was an huge success with full room capacity. The GW Alumni award (Jeff Ahn Prize) winner was Mr Simon Lee, who graduated 2005 with MS degree and the founder and ex CEO of the STG Inc. He received a Jeff Ahn Prize medal, plaque and his name will be honor with forever enshrined on the Jeff Ahn permanent plaque that the association will store in the GW Club.
