WHY AFRICANS SHOULD SUPPORT TRUMP'S WALL
It is no secret that most non-Republican African-Americans oppose President Trump's border wall agenda. But such view is short-sighted and misinformed.
Here are some reasons why we should support border security.
First of all, as law-abiding and tax-paying Americans, the fact that illegal immigration, as its name implies, is unlawful and wastes hundred of billions of our dollars every year, is enough of a reason for African-Americans to support it. According to the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), our country spends $113 billion ANNUALLY in federal & local expenses for illegal immigrants and their families. (Building Trump's wall/barrier will cost only $25 billion.) Another major impact of illegal immigration on African-Americans is by pushing down Wages and it's indirect role as corporate welfare. Even worse, thousands of our jobs are lost since some illegals tend to live in or near our communities. (Don't believe that excuse that illegals do "dirty" jobs that we don't like. If the wages for those jobs stolen by illegals were fair/legal, some of us would have had the incentive to leave welfare and do those "dirty" jobs)
Other obvious reasons why illegal immigration hurts our communities are with inflow of drugs, gangs and crime (both local and international/terrorism).
However, one of the most long-term impact of illegal immigration on African-Americans is the sensitive and controversial topic of demographic change. It is time that we finally talk about it. Fact #1: the Non-Hispanic Black US population was only 10.3% in 2010 and we are not the biggest minority anymore. Fact #2: in recent years, we have become the SLOWEST growing minority group in America. And one shocking statistic reveals that US immigration policy covertly discriminates against black people. According to the Pew Research, in 2015, the percentage of new-coming immigrant population was 26% Asian, 18% White, 47% Hispanic but only 8% black. This is not a typo, it is a single digit! This is a crisis nobody is talking about. Everybody, including liberal politicians, are taking notice of this trend. For example, since the Democratic Party (its policies and politicians) depend on controlling the minority vote, the party has already began to shift from one that solicits the "black vote" to one that focuses on the "Hispanic vote." Soon, our vote will not even be needed...thus losing even that small voice we had to influence policies that impact our social, political and economic future. While many other factors contribute to this crisis (like, high mortality rate and disproportionally high black abortion rate), our main problem is imbalanced immigration. Indeed, It is unfair that certain races, languages and colors get preferential treatment. If America is really a country for all immigrants and all races, we can not continue the current racist and discriminatory rates of immigration. One way to balance the rates of immigration is to increase LEGAL immigration quotas from black African countries; in addition to stopping illegal immigration via the Southern border and ending visa overstays.
This might be our last chance.
