October is Turkish Heritage Month in Washington, DC! 🇹🇷

Today, ATA-DC is proud to celebrate receiving our 15th annual Turkish Heritage Month proclamation.

It all began in 2012, when ATA-DC organized the first Turkish Heritage Month in Washington, DC. Fifteen proclamations later, we continue to celebrate and share the rich culture, history, traditions, arts, music, and cuisine of Türkiye with our community.

We are proud of this history and grateful to everyone who has helped Turkish Heritage Month grow and continue year after year.

Here’s to 15 years of celebrating Turkish heritage in our nation’s capital!

ATA-DC welcomes Turks in DMV as a Media Sponsor of the 2026 Turkish Festival.
🇹🇷 🌟

Turks in DMV is a volunteer-driven social media and community platform that has been bringing together the Turkish community across Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland for nearly a decade.

Since our founding, we have worked to support newly arrived families, promote Turkish culture, arts, music, and cuisine, celebrate our national holidays, and contribute to educational, charitable, and community initiatives throughout the DMV area.

Through events such as the Hamsi Festival, the Turkish Culinary Competition, and numerous cultural and community projects, we have brought hundreds of people together around the same table and in the same spirit of friendship and solidarity.

Because we believe that even though we may be thousands of miles away from Türkiye, we remain connected by something much stronger than distance:

Our culture, our solidarity, and our sense of community.

Turks in DMV — Connecting not just people, but hearts, for nearly 10 years.

It is with profound sadness that we mourn the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Sena Y. Osman, a cherished member of the ATA-DC family for many years. Her warmth, kindness, friendship, and generous spirit touched the lives of so many in our community.

We extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to her husband, Dr. Giath Alshkaki Osman, and her children, Dr. Murat Osman, Dr. Omer Osman, and Dr. Manolya Osman. May they find strength and comfort in the love, memories, and lasting legacy she leaves behind.

Dr. Sena will be deeply missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts. May she rest in peace.

ATA-DC welcomes Lezzet Turkish Coffee as Turkish Coffee House Tent Sponsor of the 2026 Turkish Festival.
🇹🇷 🌟

Lezzet Turkish Coffee was started to bring the craft of specialty coffee to the time-honored tradition of Turkish brewing. We blend two carefully selected origins, each roasted separately—one darker for depth and cocoa sweetness, the other lighter for floral aromas and brightness. Our goal is to share this age-old tradition with everyone, bringing a rich, balanced cup to longtime Turkish coffee lovers and those discovering it for the first time.
