Thousands of mink, foxes and raccoon dogs are kept in small, barren wire cages on these farms. Every wild impulse they have to run, swim, nest and dig is thwarted again and again, causing chronic stress. Many of them repeatedly pace or bob their heads, both signs of psychological distress. Essentially, they spend their short lives going crazy before being electrocuted or bludgeoned to death.

Until the systems that profit from tormenting and killing animals no longer exist, we will keep exposing unthinkably cruel realities.

Until the systems that profit from tormenting and killing animals no longer exist, we will keep exposing unthinkably cruel realities. That’s why we are releasing another investigation exposing fur farms, this time in China, the biggest fur-producing country in the world. Our new exposé, following...

A newly released undercover investigation from Fur Free Alliance member ARDE shines a spotlight on the horrible conditions inside a mink fur farm in Galicia, Spain, where animals were found living among corpses, excrement, and severe untreated injuries.

The findings add to the growing body of evidence highlighting serious animal welfare problems in fur production and reinforce calls for an EU-wide ban, currently under consideration by the European Commission in response to the Fur Free Europe citizens’ initiative.

A CORUÑA, 26 MAY 2026 – A newly released undercover investigation has exposed shocking conditions inside a mink fur farm in Galicia, Spain, where animals were found living among corpses, excrement, and severe untreated injuries. As human populations and development have increased, wildlife populations have been pushed into smaller fragments of their former home ranges, causing population problems in confined spaces and an increase in conflicts. In the past, those conflicts were “resolved” by killing, often using traps, guns and poisons--which is not only cruel, but does not address the root causes of the situation. On today's blog, Dr. Audrey Delsink and Stephanie Boyles Griffin discuss an approach that Humane World for Animals has helped develop so that fewer wild animals suffer—the definition of innovating for ending animal cruelty.

Earlier this spring, our experts gathered in Spain with colleagues from around the world to talk about fertility control for wildlife and its broader relationship to the question of human-wildlife coexistence. As human populations and development have increased, wildlife populations have been pushed...

🚨BREAKING🚨
The House Committee on Appropriations just released their annual bill to fund the U.S. Department of the Interior, and the good news is it maintains longstanding language preventing wild horses and burros from going to slaughter. Thank you for answering our call to contact your Representative to protect wild horses and burros, it worked🙌
Unfortunately, the bill is BAD news for Endangered Species Act-protected wildlife. If passed, the bill would direct the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove crucial safeguards for gray wolves and grizzly bears, including delisting these species that still urgently need federal protections.🐺🐻 And this delisting would NOT be subject to judicial review, so citizens could not appeal to the courts on this decision. Blocking access to one of our government’s crucial checks and balances on power is unacceptable!
You can help to stop this attack on vulnerable wildlife! Please call your U.S. Representative right away (look up at www.humaneworld.org/leglookup) to ask for a NO vote on the FY27 House Interior Appropriations bill! You can simply say, “As your constituent, I urge you to vote NO on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2027, and oppose any and all additional anti-wildlife riders to this bill. We must continue to do all we can to protect our nation's wildlife and biodiversity.”

We are pleased to share the long-awaited introduction of Ohio legislation, HB 947, sponsored by Representatives Rodney Creech and David Thomas. In 2025, Humane World for Animals responded to a severe animal cruelty situation in Ashtabula, Ohio where hundreds of wild animals like foxes, coyotes, wolf dogs, and skunks were confined in shocking conditions (find out more at www.humaneworld.org/en/blog/fur-farm-documentary). These animals were being bred as pets, caged their entire lives for their urine, or killed for their fur. Reps. Creech and Thomas spent the last year working with Humane World for Animals and other organizations as well as impacted state agencies to develop robust legislation that will help prevent these egregious conditions in the future. Illinois just took another major step for animals! HB 4255 has passed the legislature, expanding the state’s historic protections to ensure that big cats, primates, and bears can no longer be forced to perform in traveling acts like circuses and fairs.

Illinois already banned the use of elephants in traveling acts back in 2017, and now this bill closes the door on the exploitation of other wild animals, too.

This is a huge win for animal welfare and public safety. Now we urge Gov. Pritzker to sign HB 4255 into law!

Big cats, primates and bears will no longer be forced to perform in Illinois

Meet Miracle, a 2.5-year-old grizzly cub defying the odds and surviving alone in the Rocky Mountains. In our newest blog, we share Miracle’s story and why grizzlies still need strong federal protections as they face drought, habitat pressure, and growing human threats. If you care about wildlife and the future of grizzly bears, we hope you’ll give it a read and join us in speaking up for their protection.

In bear country, May is a month of rebirth. As temperatures warm, the bears who have been hibernating through the winter emerge. Mama bears will show their new babies the world for the first time and help them navigate their cubhood.
