Theatre Prometheus is a not-for-profit company producing classic and new works in Washington, D.C. We share a goal of exploring and promoting feminist, q***r, and diverse narratives. We believe in the power of local theater and are committed to providing opportunities to local artists and creating productions by and for the communities we live in. Theatre Prometheus seeks a Stage Manager for their Spring 2026 production of The Roaring Girl directed and adapted by Sarah Marie Wilson and Sophia Menconi. This is a paid position. The stipend for this position is $500.

The ideal candidate will be organized and detail oriented, with experience managing and caring for props, calling shows and running boards.

SUMMARY
What you’ll do:
- Work with the director to schedule and run all rehearsals
- Take notes and communicate director’s needs with designers, company members, and other crew
- Work independently to run and maintain the production for the duration of its run
- Operate lights and sound board for run of show.

The schedule is as follows:

- May 21-June 3: Load In/Tech
- June 4: IDR
- June 5: Opening Night
- June 5- June 27: Performances
- June 28: Strike

Theatre Prometheus seeks to hire several creative and design roles for their Spring 2026 production of The Roaring Girl directed and adapted by Sarah Marie Wilson and Sophia Menconi . All positions are paid equally. The stipend for each position is $500.

Ideal candidates will be organized, detail oriented, collaborative, and deadline conscious.

Summary: Sebastian has a problem. He's in love with Mary but his father won't agree to their marriage. In desperation he turns to the one person who can help him: the fearless and feisty cross-dressing thief Moll Cutpurse. This shockingly contemporary but rarely produced 1611 play takes a raucous, mischievous look at gender, counterculture, generational tensions, and the lengths we go to for the ones we love.

The production schedule is as follows*:
Late January-Early February: Casting
April-June: Rehearsals
May 21-June 3: Load In/Tech**
June 4: IDR
June 5: Opening Night
June 5- June 27: Performances

We are hiring for the following roles:

Stage Manager
- Work with the director to schedule and run all rehearsals
- Take notes and communicate director’s needs with designers, company members, and other crew
- Work independently to run and maintain the production for the duration of its run
- Operate lights and sound board for run of show.

Production Manager
- Ensure that all production roles are filled, managing search and outreach for designers/production staff
- Create a production calendar and ensure all internal and external deadlines are met
- Track and manage the budget, alerting Theatre Prometheus administrative staff of any potential issues
- Coordinate with designers and artistic staff to ensure all production needs are being met
- Manage the logistical aspects of the production, including facilitating load-in, load-out, and tech
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the production team and the administrative staff
- Organize and run production meetings

Fight and Intimacy Choreographer
- Work with the director to choreograph and craft moments of intimacy or violence
- Implement safety protocols around violence and intimacy for rehearsals and run of show
- Working to integrate discoveries made during rehearsals (to the extent that budget and time allow) and notes throughout the process until the show opens.

Costume Designer
- Responsible for developing designs in a collaborative process with the artistic team that falls within budget, timeline, and other resource parameters
- Providing design packages by deadlines to industry leading standards
- Work to integrate discoveries made during rehearsals (to the extent that budget and time allow) and notes throughout the process until the show opens.

Lighting Designer
- Responsible for developing designs in a collaborative process with the artistic team that falls within budget, timeline, and other resource parameters
- Provide design packages by deadlines to industry leading standards
- Working to integrate discoveries made during rehearsals (to the extent that budget and time allow) and notes throughout the process until the show opens.

Props Designers
- Responsible for developing designs in a collaborative process with the artistic team that falls within budget, timeline, and other resource parameters,

Theatre Prometheus is casting for a production of The Roaring Girl by Thomas Dekker and Thomas Middleton, adapted and directed by Sophia Menconi and Sarah Marie Wilson. This is a paid project. All actors will receive a $500 stipend.

AUDITIONS
Please prepare a 60-90 second comedic monologue. While the play is a classical text, written in heightened language, audition piece need not be. We are looking for actors with a strong sense of comedic timing! CHARACTERS
Moll Cutpurse - 20s, she/her. A gender outlaw and underworld celebrity of early modern London. Moll smokes, fights, steals, and *gasp* wears trousers! A source of consternation to the older generation and admiration to the younger one, and is even willing to lend a hand to a pair of star-crossed lovers. Be q***r do crimes. Will be engaging in a swordfight. Comfortable with brief singing.

Sebastian Wengrave - 20s, he/him. A young gallant desperately in love with Mary Fitzallard. Loverboy, mischievous. Engages in brief physical intimacy.

Mary Fitzallard - 20s, she/her. The daughter of a poor knight and object of Sebastian’s affections. Scrappy, mischievous, underestimated. Engages in brief physical intimacy. DOUBLED WITH Laxton - 20s, he/him. Moll’s admirer; certified f**k boy. Will be engaging in a swordfight.

Sir Alexander Wengrave - 40s/50s, he/him. Sebastian’s boorish father. A set-in-his-ways old aristocrat who wants his child to marry into wealth, or at the very least nobility, and is willing to hire a detective to ensure that.

Trapdoor - any age (he/him); a local detective hired to uncover Sebastian’s “romance” with Moll; thinks he’s in Knives Out. DOUBLED WITH Neatfoot - any age (he/him) a long-winded, bumbling butler.

Mistress Openwork - any age (she/her) disgruntled shop owner, NOT a fan of Moll; DOUBLED WITH Sir Guy - any age (he/him), Mary’s father, wants his daughter to marry up. Other tracks as needed.

Sir Davy Dapper - any age, (he/him, maybe) gossipy aristocrat; DOUBLED WITH Goshawk - any age (he/him) Laxton’s friend, f**k boy in training. Other tracks as needed.

Theatre Prometheus is casting for a production of Mother Of by Katherine Gwyn. This is a paid project. All actors will receive a $500 stipend.

Mother Of is a story about 3 Marys and one archangel. The Virgin Mary appears and commissions the playwright Marian to write a play about the Virgin Mary considering an abortion. Miryam is visited by the Arch Angel Gavri'el who tells Maryam that she will bear the Son of God. If she wants. This play deals with themes of motherhood, abortion, faith, identity, and choice.

Casting Breakdown - unless otherwise specified in the description actors of all races and ethnicities

MARY— once a human woman who saw her and God’s son die for the sins of the world. Now an Apparition that appears to MARIAN. Often holding back an eye roll. She/her. 30s-40s. Sephardic/Mizrahi Jew and/or Middle East North African.

MIRYAM— currently a human woman who is supposed to become the Mother of God. Not quite an apparition, but not quite herself either. Often holding back a scream. She/her. 20s/30s. Sephardic/Mizrahi Jew and/or Middle East North African.

MARIAN-a genderq***r/GNC/non-binary human woman who is trying to write a play about the Virgin Mary considering an abortion. Doesn’t really know who they are, right now. Often holding back themself. They/She. Late 20s/30s.

GAVRIʾEL —an archangel. The archangel, really, fully aware of their strange divinity. Often holding back their want. He/they. Trans man/trans masc.

Theatre Prometheus is seeking to fill several creative roles for our Fall 2025 production of Mother Of by Katherine Gwyn. All roles will be paid a stipend of $500.

We are seeking to hire for the following:
- Assistant Director
- Stage Manager
- Dramaturg
- Intimacy Choreographer
- Sound Designer
- Lighting Designer
- Costume Designer
- Set/props designer

Theatre Prometheus seeks a Director for our production of 'Mother Of' by Katherine Gwynn rehearsed and performed at Montgomery College Cultural Arts Center. Performance Dates will be October-November 2025 and we will work with the Director to finalize the calendar.

This is a paid position. The stipend for this position is $500.

Marian is visited by a Marian Apparition (just call her Mary, thanks) who tells them to write a play about the Blessed Virgin considering an abortion. Miryam is visited by the angel Gavri'el, who tells her she's to bear the son of God. And pomegranates keep fruiting up all around them, inviting them to make a choice.
A play about abortion, divine visions, mommy issues, daddy issues, the inherent homoeroticism of Catholic Ritual, iced coffee, and above all--choice.

What you’ll do:
Attend all rehearsals to give creative input and guide actors
Regularly meet with other production staff for design, and production meetings
Planning of all rehearsals
Ensure a cohesive and clear creative vision for the production.

Directing time commitment is part-time, with rehearsals and meetings generally taking place in evenings and weekends. A larger commitment will be needed nearing the performance and during tech.
