Archaeology in the Community (AITC) is an education nonprofit dedicated to teaching students about how archaeology works and why it's so important.

AITC's goal is to foster a greater connection between the public and the field of archaeology. AITC is a network of archaeologists, anthropologists, teachers, and volunteers working together to promote a greater understanding of archaeology’s important role—presenting all citizens with a greater knowledge of their past. This designation connects AITC with a community of donors, volunteers, and advocates across the DMV who are committed to strengthening our region through meaningful local impact.
We’re especially honored to have been selected through Spur Local’s rigorous community review process, where more than 200 volunteer reviewers from across the region evaluated organizations making a difference in nature, culture, education, and human services.
