Minds Minds is a D.C.-based nonprofit organization that empowers students, teachers, and parents with mindf This is the goal of Minds.

Imagine a world where all children learned practical skills for self-awareness, resilience, compassion, and creativity. Starting in the nation's capital, we are working with schools to integrate into their curricula and culture scientifically validated mind-body practices that quiet the mind, balance the body, and nourish the heart.

ANNOUNCEMENT

After a decade of delivering mindfulness training to school communities in the greater DC region, MINDS has decided that the time has come to close its doors. Our board of directors reached this difficult decision after much thought and deliberation.

MINDS was created in 2013 by Jesse Torrence, who personally experienced the power of mindfulness in his life and wanted to share it with children early in their lives. His vision, and our vision since then, has been to share the benefits of mindfulness in school settings by teaching specific skills and practices to students, educators, and parents. Since we began this journey, even more evidence has emerged regarding the power of mindfulness to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, increase focus and attention, and build resilience. During our time serving the DC schools community, we have seen the concept of mindfulness essentially become a “household name.” It has become embedded into the curricula of public and private schools around the country, and incorporated into social and emotional learning (SEL) initiatives. Mindfulness is now being used in schools on a regular basis by teachers and administrators.

We are so deeply proud of MINDS' contribution to further this movement and for your dedication to the practice of mindfulness.

With deep gratitude,
the Minds team
