Join ACS for our 2026-2027 National Supreme Court Preview, featuring a diverse group of constitutional and legal experts offering their insights into what we can expect from this U.S. Supreme Court Term. This virtual event will take place from 1:30pm to 3:00pm ET on Tuesday, October 20.

In recent years, the Roberts Court has fundamentally reshaped constitutional law. This Term, the Court will take up cases that could have profound implications for civil rights, public safety, and the health of our democracy. How far will the Court go to further transform voting rights, access to the courts to pursue accountability for law enforcement abuses, protections for gender and sexual minorities, gun violence prevention efforts, and other civil and constitutional rights?

Speakers:
Lindsay Langholz, Vice President of Policy and Programs, ACS (moderator)
John Cusick, Assistant Counsel, Legal Defense Fund
Danielle Jefferis, Associate Professor of Law, University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Law
Anya Marino, Chief Strategic Programs Officer, Advocates for Trans Equality (A4TE)
Darrell A.H. Miller, Harry N. Wyatt Professor of Law, University of Chicago Law School

After Trump, what will accountability look like?

Insiders likened aspects of Trump’s proposed “anti-weaponization fund” to a truth and reconciliation commission—a key transitional justice process—to legitimize the corrupt mechanism.

The Trump Administration’s use of this terminology raises important questions about what transitional justice mechanisms might be needed to address rights violations occurring during Trump’s term.

On Broken Law, Diane Furstenau is joined by Lisa Dicker, Assistant Professor of Law and Associate Director of the Hugh L. Carey Center for Dispute Resolution at St. John’s University School of Law, to discuss Trump’s use of transitional justice terminology and what transitional justice may look like in the post-Trump era.

State attorneys general make decisions that can profoundly affect our rights, our communities, and the rule of law. In a new ACS Expert Forum post, former D.C. Attorney General Karl A. Racine draws on his experience leading an attorney general’s office to explain why these often-overlooked elections—and your vote—matter.

Read the full post:

Attorneys general are the people's lawyers. Every state has one, and on November 3, voters in 30 states and the District of Columbia will choose theirs.
