Young people don’t need more events to attend. They need role models to look up to and mentors to learn from.

As catechists, we must be prepared to accept them for who they are and not be afraid to be challenged by their insecurities, doubts, and fears.

We should seek to champion their strengths, understand their personal journeys, invite their questions, and support their longing for God’s tenderness.

Accompanied by the Gospel
Matthew 9:36–10:8

Jesus does not respond to great need by placing more weight on one person’s shoulders. He responds by sending laborers.

In ministry, it is easy to believe everything depends on us. Every gap, every need, every responsibility. But the Gospel shows a different way. Jesus forms, entrusts, and sends others into the mission.

This week, consider what you are carrying that was never meant to stay only with you.

Ministry does not grow through exhaustion.

It grows when more people are formed and sent.

Share this with a ministry leader who needs the reminder.

Talking about our feelings doesn’t have to be difficult.

This simple conversation tool can help youth ministers, parents, families, and friends talk through emotions, listen well, and respond with empathy and virtue.

Ministry has changed. Young people have changed. The work hasn’t gotten easier, but the call to accompany remains the same.

The mission hasn’t changed. What changes is whether you’re supported in it. NFCYM membership gives you resources and connection to keep building a ministry that actually forms disciples.

If your youth ministry disappeared tomorrow, would your parish even change?

It's easy for youth ministries to be separate from the rest of the parish. But when young people are actually trusted in parish life, you will see leadership, ownership, belonging, and purpose.

Young people don’t leave the Church because they don’t care. They leave when they feel like they don’t matter.

Not sure how to integrate your youth ministry with the rest of the parish? Check out the Joy of Adolescent Catechesis book for tips:https://lms-nfcym.s3.amazonaws.com/resources/Joy-of-Adolescent-Catechesis-Bilingual.pdf

Today’s Gospel, John 6:51–58, reminds us that Jesus offers more than a message to understand. He offers himself.

As ministry leaders, it is easy to focus on teaching, planning, communicating, and creating meaningful experiences. These things matter. But the ultimate goal of ministry is not simply helping people know more about Jesus. It is helping them grow in relationship with him.

This week, take a moment to reflect on the ministries, programs, and opportunities you lead. How are they helping people move beyond information and into encounter, communion, and discipleship?

Faith is not just knowing who Jesus is.

It is remaining in him.

What stood out to you in today’s Gospel, and how will you apply it in your ministry?
