Headline: Nubian Legacy on the Global Stage: Highlights from the Global Afrocentricity Conference 2026 ๐โจ
We were proud to see Uru Tanutamon Gerais represent Nubian heritage and scholarship at the Global Afrocentricity Conference: An Indaba on Theory and Practice, held May 16โ17 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.
As a respected Nubian elder and cultural activist, Uru Tanutamon brought invaluable historical context to contemporary dialogue. During Panel Eleven: Elevation of Centered Creativity, he presented "The Kush Example: Ancient Africa," connecting the brilliance of ancestral Kush*te history to modern liberation movements. Crucially, his session spotlighted the ongoing struggle for Nubian and African identity within contemporary Sudanโa topic that demands urgent global attention.
A key highlight was seeing Uru Tanutamon engage with foundational figures in Pan-African thought, including Dr. Molefi Kete Asante, Dr. Nah Dove, Dr. Ayo Sekai, and esteemed international scholars.
As history, African-centered philosophy, and modern technology converge, events like this reinforce the power of collective memory and cultural alignment.
