What an incredible way to kick off the summer at TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY for the program. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to President Dr. Mark A. Brown and First Lady Gwendolyn Jackson Brown for such a gracious and warm welcome. It is always a pleasure to align with leadership who share our deep commitment to empowering the next generation.

The highlight of my visit, as always, was spending time with our brilliant scholars. Engaging with these students and witnessing firsthand their ambition, intelligence and readiness reminds me exactly why the work we do at the Thurgood Marshall College Fund is so vital.

Our SOAR programs are designed to equip students with the tools, mentorship and opportunities they need to thrive. Summer is officially underway, and these scholars are ready to SOAR!

Today, I had the opportunity to speak on the STEM Educational Institute’s Coding Conversations podcast. We talked about everything from AI skills requirements to the importance of workforce readiness and the HBCC-to-HBCU pathway.

I met TMCF scholar, Kiandra A. Pascascio, and her mother. Kiandra is a business administration and management major at Morgan State University and a recipient of the TMCF | McDonald’s Black and Positively Golden Scholarship. Seeing the impact of these scholarships firsthand is a reminder that when we invest in our students, we invest in the future.

Great things are ahead for Kiandra!

Great to be in Little Rock for the Arkansas HBCU Summit. I’m honored to stand alongside Congressman French Hill and Congresswoman Alma S. Adams, PhD as we advocate for the future of our campuses.

Our HBCUs are engines of opportunity, but they need modern infrastructure to keep up with their incredible growth. We urge Congress to pass the IGNITE HBCU Excellence Act this year - for our students and our community.

I have to take a moment to brag on our students! We had some of our student leaders speak at , and let me tell you—they absolutely knocked it out of the park!

There is truly nothing like the bond and the talent you find at an HBCU. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I love my students!

Rev. Jesse Jackson is a towering figure in American history and a catalyst for HBCUs over his lifetime. We share in our grief with many, including the family of Rev. Jackson, as his life and work impacted the lives of generations.

The Thurgood Marshall College Fund joins the nation in mourning the loss of the Rev. Jesse L. It was a profound honor to present to the Cheyney University of Pennsylvania Council of Trustees on the current "State of HBCUs."

As the oldest HBCU in America, Cheyney represents both our storied history and our limitless potential. A heartfelt thank you to President Aaron Walton for the invitation and for his visionary leadership in steering Cheyney toward a bright, sustainable future. It is always a privilege to contribute to the strategic dialogue that ensures our institutions remain cornerstones of excellence.

The energy at the NBA HBCU Classic was absolutely unmatched! It was an incredible showcase of talent, culture and excellence as two of our standout TMCF member schools— Hampton University- Official and North Carolina A&T State University — faced off on the national stage.

While both teams played with heart and represented the HBCU community with pride, a huge congratulations goes out to the Aggies for taking home the win!
