Donated dinners (2,600) to local shelters in Washington, D.C. from Washington Hilton following 2026 White House Correspondence dinner shutdown.

The 2026 White House Correspondents' Dinner (WHCD) was abruptly halted due to a shooting incident at the Washington Hilton. While many guests were evacuated before the main course was served, the prepared menu primarily featured steak and lobster
2026 WHCD MENU DETAILS:
*Main Entrée: Steak and lobster
(specifically described as steak with shrimp and lobster sauce
in some reports).
*Appetizer/Salad: Reports noted that some guests,
such as talent agent Michael Glantz, were seen continuing
to eat their salad as the evacuation began.
*Drinks: Bottles of liquor were available at guest tables.

DONATION OF UNSERVED MEALS
Because the event was cut short, approximately 2,600 unserved dinners remained.

According to WHCA President Weijia Jiang, the Hilton staff worked through the night to freeze-dry the steak and lobster to extend their shelf life before donating them to two local shelters for abused women and children.

Food Security innovation combined with Unhoused, Recovery\Homeless can change the entire paradigm.
1. Food Security. Urban farming, Indoor hydroponics and aquaponics.
2. Unhoused, recovery\homeless. Innovation with transitional housing not in motels or other breeding grounds for illegal activity, and possible human trafficking.
3. Volunteer, Job creation.
-Unhoused, recovery\homeless work in urban farming facilities to learn from seed to plate, the food waste.
-Preparation. If urban farming facility can accommodate cooking\food preparations. Volunteers learn food prep to feed the unhoused\Homeless with free meals.
-Food produce created sold at local farmers markets
-Food produce and herbs if grown, if meet standards sold to local restaurants under contract.

An Atlanta program is working to meet its goal of providing unhoused people in its downtown area with stable housing ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

Downtown Rising is a homelessness program in the city with a lofty goal of helping unhoused residents before the soccer tournament begins in Atlanta.

Thus far, Atlanta News First reports that the program remains on track to reach its mission of placing 450 people in permanent housing.
