BIG ideas deserve BIG opportunities!

Young people ages 5–20 have the opportunity to receive $100 to $10,000 in funding to bring their ideas for positive community change to life!

Through the Carnegie Challenge for Civic Leadership, powered by the Andrew Carnegie Foundation and Ashoka, young changemakers can receive funding, resources, and support to turn their ideas into meaningful impact.

📅 November 17: Early deadline for eligible NEW ideas to receive $100 in seed funding (limited to the first 600 qualifying applicants).

📅 January 31: Deadline for additional grant opportunities, including two $10,000 grand prizes!

National PAL encourages chapters nationwide to share this exciting opportunity with the young leaders in their communities.

Yesterday, U.S. HUD Secretary Scott Turner visited Tampa Police Athletic League (Tampa PAL) to highlight the impact of youth development and community policing.

The visit showcased National PAL’s partnership with RCX Sports and the NFL through NFL FLAG, along with Tampa PAL’s commitment to serving 500 youth through sports, education, and mentorship.

Secretary Turner was joined by National PAL President and CEO Dr. Stephen Coan; National PAL Board Vice Chair and RCX Sports President and CEO Izell Reese; Tampa PAL Board President James Harrell; and Tampa Police Department Acting Chief Brett Owen.

The event also highlighted National PAL initiatives such as G.R.I.T. and Drone PALs, which support emotional wellness and STEM education.

With 200+ chapters serving over 2 million youth annually, National PAL continues to create opportunities and strengthen relationships between youth and law enforcement.

We thank Secretary Turner, Tampa PAL, and all participating leaders and partners for their commitment to youth development.

BIG NEWS FOR NATIONAL PAL! CHICAGO IS BACK!

We're excited to announce that the Chicago Police Department is officially re-establishing its Police Athletic League (PAL) and rejoining the National PAL family!

With more than 200 officers already involved in citywide youth programs, Chicago has a strong foundation for expanding opportunities, strengthening relationships between youth and law enforcement, and making a lasting impact.

This exciting milestone means National PAL now has a presence in all five of the nation's largest police departments and 17 of the largest 20!

A special thank you to Chief Angel Novalez and the Chicago Police Department for their commitment to the next generation.

Introducing The National PAL Legacy, a new educational series celebrating the history and lasting impact of the Police Athletic League!

Our story takes us back to New York City in 1914, when Police Commissioner Arthur Woods championed safe spaces where young people could play, grow, and build positive relationships with police officers.

What began with neighborhood streets transformed into places for connection and opportunity helped lay the foundation for a movement that continues to empower youth across the country today.

Through this series, we'll explore the moments that shaped PAL and the mission that continues to move us forward.

The legacy started over a century ago. The impact continues today.
