💧 On , we focus on the many ways the environment supports global health, from the air we breathe to the water we drink.

A study in Nature earlier this year, for example, predicted that extreme weather events — such as floods that allow mosquito proliferation — could lead to 123 million additional malaria cases in Africa between 2024 and 2050, with 532,000 additional deaths.

While new vaccines are helping, reducing malaria and other diseases requires understanding the environment around us as well.

"I dream of a world where everyone has equal access to both the practice of science and the benefits of science."

2026 Sabin Rising Star Awardee Dr. Senjuti Saha of the Child Health Research Foundation (CHRF) has already left a permanent mark on public health. Her landmark studies on epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance formed the scientific foundation for the October 2025 launch of Bangladesh's typhoid conjugate vaccine campaign, where over 40 million children under the age of 15 have been vaccinated so far.

We are proud to have celebrated her accomplishments at the Sabin Awards Ceremony this month. Watch the full recording online ⤵️
